Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland is once again at the center of transfer speculation, as Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a potential move for the Norwegian international. With Haaland currently sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth, rumors around his long-term future are intensifying.
Real Madrid Reportedly Interested in Haaland if Vinicius Jr Leaves
Spanish media have suggested that Real Madrid could turn their attention to Haaland if a proposed transfer of Vinicius Jr to Saudi Arabia materializes during the summer transfer window. Despite Haaland recently signing a new long-term deal with Manchester City through 2034 — worth an estimated £400,000 per week — the La Liga giants remain linked to the prolific forward.
Erling Haaland’s Agent Responds to Transfer Rumors
Addressing the persistent transfer buzz, Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta spoke in a recent interview with Meczyki, as shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. “Do you think Erling will ever cut himself, even having this long-term contract with City, from rumours about Real Madrid? It’s always Haaland and Real Madrid in the media,” she stated.
Pimenta added, “People like to talk and there will always be rumours. I never make any comments or address the media,” reinforcing that speculation won’t go away, even with a secure contract in place.
Is There a Release Clause in Haaland’s Manchester City Contract?
When asked about a potential release clause in Haaland’s newly signed contract, Pimenta was tight-lipped: “I never comment on contracts. Erling has all the freedom because I think when you do what you want, you know what you’re doing, you have a proper deal… you have freedom.”
The ambiguity has only fueled more curiosity from top European clubs, including Real Madrid, about whether Haaland has an exit clause that could be activated in future transfer windows.
Manchester City’s Stance on Haaland’s Future
Manchester City are reportedly firm in their stance: Haaland is not for sale. However, the club is known to honor player wishes should they express a desire to move on. This player-centric approach could come into play down the line if Haaland ever seeks a new challenge abroad.
A similar approach was taken with goalkeeper Ederson, who considered a Saudi Arabia move last summer. City were open to selling the Brazil international if a £50 million offer had materialized — which ultimately did not.
