Fireboy revealed that Asake recorded his verse for “Bandana” while on the tour bus.

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML has shared his deep admiration for his colleague and fellow record label mate, Asake, highlighting both his immense talent and infectious energy. In a recent interview with Ebro, Fireboy recounted how Asake recorded his verse for their 2022 collaborative hit song “Bandana” while on a tour bus, demonstrating the spontaneity and vibrancy of their collaboration.

Fireboy explained that their remarkable synergy on the track stems from a long-standing working relationship that dates back to their time as undergraduates at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ife. He recalled how their record label boss, Olamide, suggested that he feature Asake on “Bandana.” After sending the song to Asake, he quickly recorded his verse on the bus, which Fireboy described as a fast process marked by an “insane” energy.

Reflecting on their history, Fireboy noted, “Asake is someone I’ve known since way back. We went to the same university. He has a very crazy personality. He’s a born star.” He emphasized that their connection goes beyond just music; they share similar struggles and have traversed nearly the same journey in their careers, which has further strengthened their bond.
