Katy Perry Claps Back at Critics of Her Space Flight During Lifetimes Tour Kickoff

Katy Perry isn’t letting the backlash from her recent Blue Origin space trip dim her shine. During her Lifetimes Tour opening night in Mexico City (April 23), the pop star addressed criticism with a powerful message to her fans: “Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?”

Perry’s space-themed performance — which included hits like “E.T.,” “Dark Horse,” and “Roar” — also featured a special moment when she invited two fans dressed in NASA suits onto the stage, celebrating what she called her “most current timeline.”

The concert marked Perry’s return to the stage after her April 14 space flight with an all-female crew, including Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez. While Perry called the experience “the highest high” and emphasized its importance for women’s empowerment and Earth awareness, some celebrities, including Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, criticized the trip as elitist and wasteful.

Perry, who had dreamt of space travel for two decades, brushed off the negativity, reinforcing that her journey was about “making space for future women” and “appreciating this wonderful world.”

Meanwhile, other stars like William Shatner, Michael Strahan, and Lance Bass have also weighed in on the allure — and risks — of space travel. Whether glamorized or criticized, Perry’s journey is the latest flashpoint in the ongoing debate about celebrity space tourism.
