Kevin Hart can now move on from his legal battles with his former assistant, Miesha Shakes, and celebrity blogger Tasha K, as both cases have reportedly reached a settlement.
Kevin Hart Finalizes Settlement with Miesha Shakes and Tasha K on Valentine’s Day
According to recent court updates, the comedian and his legal team have reached an agreement with the defendants, leading to the dismissal of his lawsuit. The settlement was described as “unconditional,” meaning Hart has agreed to drop his legal claims against both parties.
Court documents reveal that Hart’s attorneys have filed a notice of settlement, indicating that as long as there are no complications during the finalization process, the case will soon be officially closed. The settlement agreements were reached on February 14.
Hart’s legal action against Shakes and Tasha K stemmed from claims of civil extortion and invasion of privacy, following an interview between the two in 2023.
Hart Accused Shakes of Violating Her NDA
The dispute began when Shakes, Hart’s former assistant, gave an interview to Tasha K in which she made statements that the comedian found damaging. According to Hart, he later received a call from one of Tasha K’s associates, who allegedly demanded $250,000 in exchange for preventing the interview’s release.
Shocked by what he perceived as an extortion attempt, Hart immediately alerted law enforcement and instructed his attorneys to issue a cease-and-desist letter to Tasha K, warning her against publishing the interview.
In addition to his extortion claim, Hart accused Shakes of breaching a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) she had signed upon leaving his employment. Shakes worked as his assistant from 2017 to 2020. In response, Hart sought an injunction and unspecified financial damages, arguing that her comments in the interview had harmed his reputation.
Shakes Contested the Validity of Her NDA
Shakes, however, denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the NDA she signed was invalid. She argued that Hart had failed to uphold his obligations under the agreement, including providing her with health insurance, which she said was part of the deal.
According to Shakes, she was in a vulnerable financial and mental health state when she signed the NDA. She alleged that Hart was fully aware of her struggles, including her inability to afford health insurance or necessary medications.
Her legal team contended that since Hart allegedly did not fulfill his contractual obligations, he had no grounds to sue her for breaching the NDA. They also dismissed Hart’s claims of invasion of privacy and defamation, stating that he was unlikely to win the case.
Her attorney further accused Hart of attempting to silence her, suggesting that celebrities often use their influence to suppress criticism after engaging in questionable behavior.
Tasha K Also Faced Legal Pressure from Hart’s Team
Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Transrina Kebe, was also targeted by Hart’s legal team. In November 2023, she received a letter warning her that her actions amounted to “civil and criminal law violations” and demanding that she cease all related activities.
The letter accused Tasha K of engaging in “criminal conduct and tortious acts,” cautioning that continuing such actions could increase her liability for monetary damages and potential criminal charges.

As Hart’s legal battles unfolded, his ex-wife, Torrei Hart, found herself addressing rumors about a separate controversy involving comedian Katt Williams.
Williams had previously made controversial remarks about Hart and other entertainers during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast. Despite this, Torrei, who was set to tour with Williams last year, clarified that Hart had no issues with her working alongside the comedian.
Speaking outside the Hollywood Improv in January, she emphasized that she and Hart had a nearly 20-year friendship and dismissed any speculation of conflict between them.

With the legal drama now behind them, both Miesha Shakes and Tasha K may want to tread more carefully in the future when speaking about high-profile figures. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart can now focus on his career without these legal distractions.
