Keyamo Commends Governor Oborevwori’s Visionary Leadership in Delta

KEYAMO

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has lauded the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as “exceptional foresight and visionary leadership” in the development and transformation of Delta State. Keyamo made the commendation during a working visit to Asaba, where he was received at the State Government House by the governor and other top officials.

Speaking during the visit, Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and indigene of the state, applauded Governor Oborevwori for sustaining the developmental momentum across sectors and for initiating new projects that reflect a deep understanding of the state’s long-term needs.

“You have foresight, and it is showing in the way you’re managing the affairs of Delta,” Keyamo said. “You are building on what you met, but you’re also thinking beyond now. That is what makes a good leader — the ability to envision and plan for the future.”

Infrastructure and Continuity as a Model

Keyamo particularly praised the governor for embracing continuity, especially with key infrastructure projects initiated by the previous administration. According to him, it is rare in Nigerian politics for successors to consolidate on the gains of their predecessors without political rivalry or unnecessary abandonment of public interest.

“I must commend you for continuing the legacy projects and adding your own signature developments. That is true leadership,” he said. “It shows maturity, political wisdom, and a genuine desire to serve the people.”

He cited ongoing projects such as road networks, education infrastructure, and the expansion of the Asaba International Airport as examples of initiatives that demonstrate Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to progress and sustainability.

Aviation Minister Hails Collaboration on Airport Development

As the Minister of Aviation, Keyamo took a particular interest in the state of the Asaba International Airport, which he described as a vital asset for regional economic integration and mobility. He pledged continued support from the Federal Government to ensure the airport meets global standards and supports the state’s economic goals.

“The strategic importance of the Asaba airport cannot be overstated. I have taken note of the steps you’ve taken to upgrade the facility and we are ready to collaborate closely with your administration to enhance aviation infrastructure in Delta and across the South-South region,” Keyamo added.

He emphasized that aviation development was a critical component of the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and states like Delta were crucial in translating that vision to reality through strategic investments and cooperation.

Oborevwori Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Development

In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the Minister’s visit and kind words, assuring that his administration was anchored on transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainable development. He noted that the state’s MORE Agenda—meaning “Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security”—was being implemented with the people at its heart.

“We are focused on infrastructure, youth empowerment, education, health care, and improving our economy,” Oborevwori said. “We believe that no part of Delta should be left behind, and we are deliberate about balancing development across all senatorial zones.”

He thanked Keyamo for acknowledging the state’s efforts and urged for stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments, particularly in critical areas like aviation, roads, and energy.

A Bipartisan Message of Unity

The visit was not only significant in terms of policy alignment but also symbolically powerful, as it showcased a spirit of unity across party lines. While Oborevwori is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Keyamo belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party at the federal level.

Their cordial interaction sent a strong message that governance should rise above partisanship when the goal is public service and national development.

“This is how Nigeria should be,” Keyamo remarked. “We can disagree politically, but when it comes to development and governance, we must find common ground.”

The event was attended by members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, business leaders, and civil society representatives, many of whom praised both leaders for demonstrating statesmanship and maturity.

Residents React Positively

Many Delta residents and political observers have welcomed the visit and public endorsement by Keyamo. Social media platforms were abuzz with praise for both men, with users calling it a “rare moment of political maturity” and a model for other states to emulate.

“This is what we need more of — leaders putting ego aside to work for the people,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

Another commenter said, “It’s refreshing to see APC and PDP leaders sharing a stage without drama. More of this, please.”

Looking Ahead

As Delta State continues on its path of transformation, many observers believe that the current synergy between state and federal actors could open the door for increased funding, infrastructural growth, and investor confidence. With both Oborevwori and Keyamo expressing willingness to work together in the interest of Deltans, residents may be witnessing the beginning of a new era of inclusive and visionary leadership.
