Labour Party: We are not in a partnership with Tinubu for the 2027 presidency.

The Labour Party (LP) has dismissed recent social media reports claiming that the party is partnering with President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 elections.

The rumors stemmed from a video in which activist Deji Adeyanju suggested that the LP had entered into an alliance with Tinubu ahead of the next presidential race.

In response, Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, issued a statement on Friday rejecting the claims. He emphasized that the party has repeatedly denied any understanding with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in relation to the 2027 elections.

Ifoh stressed that the Labour Party is currently the most prominent opposition party, with National Chairman Barrister Julius Abure being the leading critic of the government. He noted that since the 2023 elections, the LP has been actively challenging the government’s failures, offering solutions, and critiquing its policies.

The party has also launched several initiatives, including the creation of an Electoral Reform Committee to ensure a fair and transparent election process. Ifoh highlighted that the LP, as a major victim of the 2023 elections, is focused on reforming Nigeria’s political system.

Additionally, the Labour Party has established a Political Education Committee to promote positive political attitudes among citizens and introduced an e-membership registration system, which has already attracted thousands of new members.

Ifoh called the allegations made by Adeyanju “ridiculous and unfortunate,” and challenged him, as well as anyone else making similar claims, to provide evidence that the party leadership or Abure has any intention to collaborate with President Tinubu or the APC in 2027.
