Lily Allen Issues Public Apology to Katy Perry Over Blue Origin Space Flight Comments

British singer Lily Allen has publicly apologized to Katy Perry after making critical remarks about the pop star’s recent Blue Origin space flight. On the April 28 episode of her Miss Me podcast, Allen addressed her earlier comments, expressing regret and labeling her words as stemming from “internalized misogyny.”

“I want to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week,” Allen, 39, said. “There was no reason to bring her name into it. It was unnecessary, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot.”

The singer’s public apology to Katy Perry comes after Allen criticized Perry’s participation in the Blue Origin mission on an earlier podcast episode. Perry, 40, flew to space on April 14 alongside Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez during an 11-minute ride that gained widespread media attention.

Allen acknowledged that although she disagreed with the idea of celebrities taking expensive space trips while people face economic hardship, she should not have singled out Perry. “She’s possibly the most famous, and something in me chose her to criticize. I’m really sorry,” Allen added. “If someone in my industry did that to me, I would’ve been hurt.”

Her earlier comments described the space journey as “so out of touch,” criticizing the mission’s relevance and framing it as performative rather than purposeful. “They sent Katy Perry to space for no reason,” she said. “We send people to space for scientific discovery, not for spectacle.”

This celebrity news moment has sparked renewed discussions around fame, privilege, and the ethics of space tourism. While Perry has not publicly responded, Allen’s apology has generated buzz across entertainment platforms.
