Lord’s to Host 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup Final as Tournament Returns to England

Lord’s Cricket Ground, the iconic “Home of Cricket,” will host the final of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, organisers have confirmed. The final is scheduled for Sunday, 5 July 2026, marking a significant moment in the continued rise of women’s cricket.

This will be the second time England has hosted the tournament, and it follows the unforgettable scenes of 2017, when England’s women defeated India in a dramatic 50-over World Cup final at Lord’s.

“The sell-out Women’s World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game,” said ICC chair Jay Shah. “I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.”

Tournament Overview: Bigger, Broader, and More Ambitious

The 2026 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will feature an expanded field of 12 teams (up from 10 in previous editions), reflecting growing global interest and investment in the women’s game.

Tournament Dates:

Growing Legacy in Women’s Cricket

This tournament aims to build on past milestones, particularly England’s 2017 World Cup triumph, which drew a capacity crowd and global attention.

“Every cricketer dreams of playing in a World Cup final at Lord’s,” said ECB chief executive Richard Gould. “We want this competition to be part of a long-term movement, not just a single moment in time.”

The ECB hopes the event will inspire a new generation of fans, many of whom are discovering women’s cricket for the first time.
