The Los Angeles Sparks have announced the promotion of Danielle Robinson, a three-time WNBA All-Star, to the role of assistant coach. Robinson, 35, who joined the Sparks as the manager of basketball integration in January 2025, will continue in that role while taking on her new coaching responsibilities.
Robinson replaces Nikki Blue, who left the organization this week to become an assistant coach for the Southern California women’s basketball team.
Danielle Robinson’s WNBA Career and Achievements
A veteran of 12 seasons in the WNBA, Danielle Robinson played for several teams, including San Antonio, Phoenix, Minnesota, Las Vegas, Indiana, and Atlanta. Throughout her career, Robinson established herself as one of the league’s premier point guards, ranking 13th all-time in WNBA assists and leading the league in assists in 2013.
Robinson also enjoyed success overseas, winning the 2015 EuroLeague championship. After retiring from professional basketball, she participated in the prestigious NBA/WNBA Future Basketball Operations Stars program, which further prepared her for her transition into coaching.
Looking Ahead for the Los Angeles Sparks
With Robinson’s extensive experience and leadership, the Los Angeles Sparks are excited to see how her knowledge of the game will enhance the team’s development on and off the court.
