Luka Dončić Reflects on His Struggles in Lakers' 123-116 Loss to Warriors

In their 123-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers showed several areas of weakness, including a significant struggle to convert shots, particularly from beyond the arc, throughout the first three quarters.

One of the main reasons for this was Luka Dončić’s poor shooting performance. He made only 3 of his 11 attempts in the first half and finished the game shooting 6-of-17 overall. Notably, Dončić missed all six of his 3-point attempts. When he wasn’t missing from long range, he found himself trapped by multiple Warriors defenders in the paint, limiting his impact on offense.

After the game, Dončić took responsibility for his shooting woes, acknowledging his less-than-ideal performance on the court.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick chose not to single out Dončić for criticism, instead noting that it simply wasn’t the superstar’s night.

March was a much stronger month for Dončić, as he played at an exceptional level, setting a new franchise record by hitting 40.5% of his 3-point attempts and recording the most 3-pointers made in a calendar month for the team. However, like any player, Dončić has his off nights, and the Lakers must find ways to create better scoring opportunities to support him and improve his shooting consistency.

Looking ahead, Dončić and the Lakers won’t have much time to regroup, as they face the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday before heading out for a road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
