Meta Platforms is reportedly exploring the construction of a new AI-focused data center campus, with costs potentially surpassing $200 billion, according to The Information. The company is considering locations in Louisiana, Wyoming, and Texas, with senior executives recently visiting potential sites.
The push for AI infrastructure follows the surge in artificial intelligence investment since the 2022 launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Tech giants are racing to enhance their AI capabilities, integrating advanced machine learning into products and services.
A Meta spokesperson denied the report, stating that the company’s data center plans and capital expenditures have already been disclosed, calling any further speculation “pure speculation.”
Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to invest up to $65 billion in AI infrastructure this year. In comparison, Microsoft aims to invest around $80 billion in data centers in fiscal 2025, while Amazon projects its 2025 spending to exceed the estimated $75 billion for 2024.
