NBC Faces Backlash After Cancelling 5 Fan-Favorite TV Shows

TV enthusiasts had a rough day as NBC made the difficult decision to cancel five beloved shows, leaving fans devastated and frustrated.

The network made bold moves to trim its lineup, pulling the plug on several freshman and sophomore series. Among the cancellations was the Suits reboot, Suits LA, a spinoff of the popular USA Network drama featuring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, and Meghan Markle. Despite its connection to the original show, Suits LA, led by Stephen Amell, failed to capture the same audience, leading to its untimely cancellation after just one season.

In addition to Suits LA, NBC also axed Found, starring Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. This procedural drama, which followed a public relations specialist rescuing missing persons, was canceled after two seasons. Another show on the chopping block was The Irrational, a crime drama featuring Jesse L. Martin as a university professor solving cases using human behavior. It, too, met its end after two seasons.

NBC also canceled George Lopez’s Lopez vs. Lopez and Melissa Rauch’s courtroom comedy Night Court, both of which had aired for three seasons. The network’s decision to end these fan-favorite shows has left many viewers upset, particularly those who felt emotionally invested in the characters and storylines.

Many took to social media to voice their frustrations. One fan posted, “NBC canceled Found and now I’m angry!” Another wrote, “Wooowwww NBC! Really?! Y’all gonna cancel Found?!” Fans expressed their disbelief and disappointment with the abrupt cancellations, particularly with Found and The Irrational, with one user tweeting, “NBC canceled Found, Irrational, and Suits LA… all in one SWEEP! Jesus Christ!”

The outpouring of reactions continued, with viewers voicing their discontent over the shows’ cancellations: “Why did NBC cancel so many of their GREAT current shows?!!! Like, what do you mean they canceled Found?!!! That show was phenomenal,” another fan lamented. One frustrated fan posted, “NBC cancelling all their dramas except for Dick Wolf productions is crazy. Why even bother getting invested in TV shows anymore?”

Some fans pointed out the unusual frequency of cancellations, raising questions about NBC’s programming strategy. “I don’t remember a time when this many shows were canceled all at once,” one fan questioned. “NBC said they had to make cuts because of NBA games this year and limited time slots. But with two networks—NBC and Peacock—why is this happening?”

Despite the major shake-up, NBC did make some notable renewals, including the popular One Chicago franchise, with Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med all being renewed for additional seasons. However, many fans were left wondering if this would be enough to make up for the loss of their favorite shows.

The abrupt cancellations have left fans wondering whether network programming is becoming less stable and harder to trust, with many questioning what the future holds for new TV shows on NBC.
