Fans of the original franchise know Haymitch as the gruff, yet beloved mentor to Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), portrayed by Woody Harrelson. This prequel sheds light on his origins and the formative experiences that led him to become one of Panem’s most memorable figures.

As Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-President Erin Westerman stated, “Haymitch has always been a fan favorite, and his origin story is one of the most anticipated in the franchise.” She added, “We can’t wait for fans to experience the story that shaped one of the most compelling characters in the series.”
