Famous rapper Nicki Minaj has praised Nigerian Afrobeat artist Davido, calling him an exceptional melody maker and songwriter.

She shared this admiration while explaining the reasons behind her recent collaboration with Davido.

According to JOINTEARN, Minaj worked with Davido on her latest track, “If It’s Okay.” When a fan inquired about her motivation for the collaboration, Minaj revealed that she was eager to incorporate an Afrobeat vibe into her music.

On her X (formerly Twitter) account, she described the Nigerian artist as a talented writer and melody creator. She said, “That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It is always a pleasure working with him because of our mutual respect for one another. I asked him to be a part of it to bring out the Afrobeat tempo/feeling in it a bit more. Naija to the world.”
