Nissan Reveals All-New Frontier Pro Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Pickup Truck at Auto Shanghai 2025
Nissan Motor Corporation has officially unveiled its all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup truck at the Auto Shanghai 2025 event. The company revealed that this model is part of its ambitious plan to launch nine new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China by mid-2027. Alongside the Frontier Pro, Nissan showcased the Dongfeng Nissan N7, an all-electric sedan, which is slated for release later this month.
The Frontier Pro marks a major milestone for Nissan as its first-ever PHEV and the company’s first electrified pickup truck. Set to debut in China later this year, the Frontier Pro will eventually be rolled out in other markets across Asia and beyond.
Designed with both urban and off-road capabilities in mind, the Frontier Pro is a five-seater double-cab pickup truck, tailored for families seeking a versatile vehicle for daily city driving and weekend adventures. Its rugged yet modern design embraces the “Rugged Tech” concept, combining a stylish exterior with a spacious, refined interior.
Powertrain and Performance Features
The Frontier Pro PHEV boasts a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a high-output electric motor mounted on the transmission. Together, this hybrid system produces over 300 kW of power and delivers an impressive 800 Nm of torque. The Chinese version is expected to offer a pure EV range of up to 135 km.
All models will be equipped with a 5-link rear suspension and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which automatically adjusts torque distribution between the front and rear wheels for optimal performance. The truck also includes an electromechanical rear differential lock for improved off-road capability. Additionally, it features four selectable driving modes: Hybrid, Pure Electric, Performance, and Snow.

The Frontier Pro‘s interior is designed for comfort and convenience, offering heated and ventilated front seats with a seat-back massage feature. The truck also includes a 10-inch LCD instrument cluster and a large 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen for an enhanced driving experience.
