Osun police have confirmed the arrest of a man accused of killing his father.

The Osun State Police Command has officially confirmed the arrest of a man named Saidi, who is suspected of murdering his father, Bale, on their farm located in Ilusi, Osun State. The police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, provided details regarding the arrest and indicated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Opalola stated, “The suspect was arrested on suspicion of killing his father. I have been briefed about it, and the investigation is ongoing.” Reports indicate that Saidi allegedly decapitated his father on the very day that Bale was set to begin harvesting his crops.

According to sources within the village, the remains of Bale were discovered on his farm on Friday after locals noticed he had been missing for several hours. A villager, who wished to remain anonymous and identified only as Sakariyau, recounted that Bale had gone missing the previous Thursday. Following a thorough search throughout the village, his corpse was ultimately located on his farm the next day, concealed beneath a pile of leaves.

Sakariyau explained, “Before he was traced to his farm on Friday, he could not be found anywhere around the village since he left for the farm. When we arrived at his farm, we searched everywhere and eventually found his remains covered with leaves. His head had been severed by unknown assailants.”

Following the discovery of Bale’s body, suspicions quickly fell upon his son, Saidi, who had accompanied Bale to the farm on the day of the murder. Angered by the situation, locals confronted Saidi, resulting in a violent altercation. Initially, he denied any involvement in his father’s death; however, after enduring severe beatings from a group of enraged youths, he ultimately confessed to the crime.

In addition to the gruesome discovery, the cocoa harvest that had already been gathered and Bale’s motorcycle were also found at the scene of the crime. Saidi was subsequently handed over to the police and taken to the Iperindo station, where further investigations into the case are being conducted.
