Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has revealed that members of the opposition are actively gathering in Abuja and other locations, with the aim of misleading the people of Abia through the spread of fake news and false narratives about his administration. Otti accused the opposition of strategizing to produce both fake and occasionally legitimate documents to further their propaganda efforts against the state government.

Speaking at the Government House in Umuahia on Monday, during the swearing-in ceremony for the Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the 17 local government areas, as well as the newly elected councilors, Otti expressed his confidence that these efforts would fail. While he refrained from naming any specific individuals involved, he made it clear that his administration would not be intimidated by such gatherings.

He stated, “Let me address the so-called opposition groups who are meeting in Abuja and other places with the singular goal of deceiving the people and trying to distract this government. They have perfected a method of circulating both fake and occasionally authentic documents to create false narratives and spread propaganda. But just like the Bible assures us, these gatherings, because they are not of God, will inevitably fail.”

Otti urged the opposition not to underestimate the intelligence of the Abia people, adding, “You have attempted this before and failed. What makes you think you will succeed this time, especially considering the incredible transformation that has taken place in Abia State over the past 18 months? A word is enough for the wise.”
