Min Woo Lee earned his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday, clinching the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. However, the win came with a side of controversy.
During the final round, Lee’s playing partner, Alejandro Tosti, reportedly became frustrated with the pace of play on the par-5 8th hole and called over rules officials. This led to what seemed like a retaliatory move from the Argentine pro, who slowed down his play for the remainder of the round.
NBC Sports commentator Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay publicly criticized Tosti’s pace, saying:
“I’m not sure what’s going on, but Tosti is playing at his own pace. At times, it’s normal, and at times, it’s glacially slow. But today, on this particular hole, he decided to take his time and is holding up play in this final group.”
Tosti was seen trailing Lee down the 12th fairway, adding to the perception of slow play.
On Monday, Tosti responded to the criticism on social media with a profanity-laden tirade, which he later deleted from X (formerly Twitter). However, screenshots of the post were captured by Golf Channel analyst Brentley Romine.
Tosti’s response included:
“Playing at my own pace… omg. Because I took a piss and made myself a drink, I’m ‘slow playing and trying to throw off my playing partners.’ Go f**k yourself, failures.”
The Argentine pro didn’t stop there. He also addressed reports of a confrontation with his playing partner, Ryan Fox, on the first hole, writing:
“BTW Stop the fake news idiots. There was no confrontation with Fox on the 1st hole.”
Though Tosti didn’t deny calling rules officials on Lee, the details of his comments remain unclear. Tosti finished the day with a 2-under 68, tying for fifth place with Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, and Taylor Pendrith.
This season has been a rollercoaster for Tosti. While his top-10 finish at the Houston Open marks his second of the year, he’s also missed five cuts in his nine PGA Tour events in 2025.
