Pierce Brosnan, renowned for his portrayal of James Bond in the 90s and early 2000s, has weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding the next 007. Brosnan expressed strong support for Aaron Taylor-Johnson, calling the 34-year-old actor “very good” for the role of the iconic British spy.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, the former Bond revealed his admiration for Taylor-Johnson, who is one of the latest actors linked to the coveted role. Brosnan shared that he had worked with Taylor-Johnson in 2009 on The Greatest, a family drama that he executive produced. “He came on set and filled the space with passion and energy,” Brosnan recalled. “If he wanted it, I think he’d be great as Bond.”

Brosnan also reflected on his experience working with Taylor-Johnson, who portrayed “the Greatest” in the film alongside Carey Mulligan and Susan Sarandon. The GoldenEye actor praised Taylor-Johnson’s commitment to the craft, suggesting that the actor has the qualities needed to succeed in such a legendary role.

When discussing the future of the James Bond franchise under the new ownership of Amazon’s MGM Studios, Brosnan expressed optimism, wishing the team well in their efforts to continue the legacy of 007.

In addition to his Bond commentary, Brosnan is currently starring in the Paramount+ series MobLand, where he plays Conrad Harrigan, the head of a warring London crime family. The series, which also stars Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren, is produced by Guy Ritchie. Brosnan shared his appreciation for Hardy’s work on set, emphasizing how their shared respect for one another elevated their performances.

Tom Hardy, a friend of Brosnan’s son Sean, returned the compliment, calling Brosnan a “consummate pro” and a “brilliant actor.” He also praised Brosnan for his graciousness in both his professional and social interactions.

Anson Boon, who plays Harrigan’s grandson in MobLand, also spoke highly of Brosnan’s work ethic, saying that he and Helen Mirren “delivered in every aspect” of their roles, setting a high standard for young actors.

Brosnan’s endorsement of Aaron Taylor-Johnson adds fuel to the ongoing speculation about who will take over the role of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise. As fans eagerly await the announcement, it seems the 007 legacy is in capable hands with potential stars like Taylor-Johnson.
