Ruben Amorim Praises Marcus Rashford's Revival: A Boost for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford’s resurgence is seen as “good news” for Manchester United, according to Ruben Amorim. The English forward has been in impressive form during his loan spell at Aston Villa, earning a recall to the England squad after a year-long absence.

Rashford, who had struggled for form under previous manager Thomas Tuchel, recently scored a brace in Villa’s 3-0 win over Preston in the FA Cup quarter-finals, marking his first goals for the club. Despite being omitted from the Villa starting XI for 13 games under Amorim, Rashford’s recent performances suggest a turnaround in his fortunes.

“Rashford is not my player at the moment, but every player who performs well while on loan brings positive news for my club. I’m happy to see him succeed,” Amorim commented.

Villa has the option to make the 27-year-old’s move permanent for £40 million in the summer. However, there’s a possibility that Rashford could return to Manchester United.

Looking ahead to United’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest, Amorim confirmed that five players would return to the squad. Defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro, goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton, and wing-back Patrick Dorgu—back from a three-match suspension—will all be available for selection.

“Maguire and Yoro are ready to go for the game,” Amorim stated, adding that Maguire has been sidelined for four matches with a calf injury, while Yoro missed the previous two games.

However, teenage defender Ayden Heaven will miss the match due to an ankle issue sustained in the 3-0 win over Leicester. Amorim reassured fans that it wasn’t a serious injury and confirmed that Heaven would return before the season ends.

“It was not so serious. He’s recovering and not ready to play, but he’ll definitely return this season,” Amorim clarified.

Though Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are back in training, neither is expected to feature against Forest. Amorim explained: “Luke is not quite ready yet. We’re doing some drills, but he’s still in the process of building up. Kobbie is close to returning, but he’s not yet ready for this match.”

Mason Mount, who was on the bench for United’s victory against Leicester, could make his first appearance of 2025, while young striker Chido Obi will be sidelined to play in Monday’s FA Youth Cup clash against Fulham.

Manchester United fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their key players as they aim to secure another crucial victory
