South African media figure Kefilwe Mabote burns her high-end designer clothes after embracing Christianity.

South African media personality Kefilwe Mabote recently explained why she chose to burn her expensive designer clothes after committing her life to Christ, following a video that sparked online debate. Many critics questioned why she didn’t donate the items to those in need.

In a detailed Instagram post, Mabote shared that her decision was rooted in her newfound faith. She cited a biblical reference, explaining that such items are considered “accursed.” She wrote, “I’ve been asked why I burned my Versace pieces instead of donating them, and I want to provide a thoughtful explanation.

“The choice to burn these items was driven by personal conviction. According to the Bible, such things are seen as ‘accursed’ (see Joshua 7:13). For instance, the Medusa image represents a Greek god of the sea, and as believers, we cannot serve two masters. Giving these items away would mean passing on something I no longer stand for, and I can’t in good conscience share things that carry spiritual implications I no longer align with.”
