Global pop icon Taylor Swift has officially been subpoenaed to testify in Blake Lively’s ongoing legal battle with co-star Justin Baldoni over the film adaptation of It Ends With Us. The move has ignited widespread attention, with Swift’s team issuing a fiery statement denouncing the subpoena as a “clickbait” tactic.
Taylor Swift Subpoenaed in Blake Lively’s Legal War With Justin Baldoni
The legal drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni continues to escalate, now pulling in A-listers including Taylor Swift. Baldoni, who filed a $400 million countersuit in response to Lively’s 2024 sexual harassment claim, named Swift in court documents, alleging that Lively used the singer as one of her “dragons” to pressure him during a creative dispute.
Baldoni’s legal team claims that during a private meeting at Lively’s home — initially framed as a script discussion — the actor was unexpectedly joined by Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds and Swift, whom he viewed as part of an intimidation tactic.
Taylor Swift’s Camp Slams Subpoena as “Clickbait”
In response to the official subpoena served on Friday, May 9, Swift’s spokesperson told People Magazine:
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in casting, script approval, scoring, or editing. She didn’t even view the film until weeks after its release and was touring globally throughout 2023 and 2024.”
The spokesperson emphasized Swift’s limited connection to the film:
“She simply licensed the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’ alongside 19 other artists. To issue a subpoena under these conditions is clearly a tactic to generate tabloid headlines and misuse her name for public attention.”
Taylor Swift Allegedly Felt ‘Used’ By Blake Lively
Sources close to the Grammy-winning artist revealed to TMZ that Swift felt “used” after learning Baldoni would be at what she believed was a casual visit to Lively’s home. She had no idea the gathering would turn into a confrontation over creative direction.
Adding to the discomfort, Swift later found out that Lively had referred to her as one of her “dragons” in a text conversation with Baldoni — a term lifted from the character Khaleesi in Game of Thrones.
Despite the tension, insiders say the two celebrities have reconciled. “Blake apologized, and they are talking again,” a source told NewsNation. Swift is also the godmother to three of Lively’s children, highlighting their long-standing bond.
Legal Proceedings Continue as Both Lively and Baldoni Prepare to Testify
Blake Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, has confirmed that the actress will testify at the upcoming trial scheduled for March 9, 2026. “The ultimate moment for a plaintiff’s story to be told is at trial,” he said, noting that Lively will face deposition and cross-examination.
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, welcomed the confirmation, responding: “She has been testifying since the moment she auditioned for this part. If she is now willing to sit for a deposition, I’m available tomorrow morning.”
With A-list celebrities drawn into the legal turmoil surrounding It Ends With Us, the upcoming trial promises to be one of Hollywood’s most closely watched cases.
