Texas WR Isaiah Bond Confident in Breaking NFL Combine 40-Yard Dash Record

Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is setting bold expectations ahead of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Speaking to reporters before Saturday’s wide receiver workouts, Bond confidently predicted that he would break the 40-yard dash record set by Xavier Worthy last year—and perhaps become the first player in combine history to post a time in the 4.1-second range:

“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.”

Xavier Worthy’s Record-Breaking 40-Yard Dash

Worthy, another former Texas Longhorns wideout, set the fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL combine history in 2024, clocking in at 4.21 seconds. His record-breaking performance surpassed John Ross III’s 4.22-second time from 2017 and helped solidify his draft stock. The Kansas City Chiefs selected Worthy 28th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Isaiah Bond’s Speed and Training

Bond, who transferred to Texas from Alabama last offseason, has been preparing for this moment. According to ESPN, his best recorded time in training before the combine was 4.23 seconds.

“I’ve been running my whole life,” Bond said. “I’ve been one of the fastest my whole life, so I’m going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.”

Bond played a key role in the Longhorns’ offense last season, replacing Xavier Worthy as the team’s deep threat. He finished with 540 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 14 games.

With his NFL Draft stock largely built on speed, Bond’s 40-yard dash performance could significantly impact his selection.
