The 2024 State of States performance report ranks Ogun State higher on Index A.

In the 2024 State of States performance rankings, Ogun State has been recognized for its impressive position on Index A, according to BudgIT Research, a leading socioeconomic and civic organization.

Among the 36 states in Nigeria, Rivers State emerged at the top of the list with a score of 0.82, closely followed by Lagos State with 0.84, while Ogun State secured third place with a score of 1.48.

BudgIT explained on its website that states ranking higher on Index A are those that rely less on federally distributed revenue to fund their operations. These states demonstrate greater economic viability and would be better positioned to function independently if needed.

This recognition comes on the heels of a recent report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which highlighted that Ogun State is one of the least dependent on revenue from the federal government’s account.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, responding to the achievement over the weekend, praised his administration for its role in attaining this remarkable feat. He attributed the success to a series of policies and initiatives implemented since his administration took office. Governor Abiodun remarked, “Our administration has worked tirelessly to expand and diversify the state’s economic base, positioning it in a way that reduces our reliance on federal allocations.”
