Nigerian media personality, Tolu Oniru, better known as Toolz, has criticized singer 2Face for publicly announcing his separation from his wife, Annie.

On a recent episode of her podcast Off Air, Toolz expressed the view that the couple should have kept their divorce private. She also pointed out that the timing was particularly insensitive, as Annie was already facing criticism over her appearance on the Young, Famous & African reality show.

Toolz remarked, “There’s a lot that happens in marriages. They [2Face and Annie] have had very public ups and downs, but I just feel like this was something they could have dealt with privately, especially given what Annie was going through at the time.

“It didn’t need to be made public now. People go through divorces quietly all the time. Everyone knows how much Annie loves 2Face. It’s sad for many because, when you think of their love story, people were rooting for them to have a happy-ever-after, but life happens.

“I feel like, when you’ve married someone you once loved and had children with, and they’re going through something publicly while being attacked by others, it’s just not right to announce your divorce at that same time.”
