Ademola Lookman has expressed that winning the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award would hold a special significance for him. Despite the honor that comes with such a prestigious accolade, the 27-year-old Nigerian international has emphasized that he does not feel any added pressure to secure the title.
Currently playing for Atalanta, Lookman is among the ten nominees for this year’s award and is regarded as a strong contender following a remarkable year both for his club and the Nigerian national team. Reflecting on his approach to the award, Lookman highlighted that his primary focus remains on his personal growth as a player rather than the accolades themselves.
In an interview with 54footballx, he stated, “I don’t think I am feeling additional pressure. I think I have kept the same mindset; I have kept the same work ethic. I am just trying to do my best, do my best on the pitch.” Lookman believes that consistent improvement is key to his success and remains committed to enhancing his skills every day.
He further added, “If I can win the award, it would be special most definitely for me, my family, my people, my country, but you know, that is the future. The future will come. Now, I need to focus on doing my best.” Lookman’s dedication to his craft reflects his ambition, and while the prospect of winning the award excites him, he understands that immediate performance on the pitch is what truly matters.
