Inter Milan Edge Past Kairat to Maintain Champions League 100% Record

Inter Milan survived a second-half scare to secure a narrow victory over Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty and continue their perfect start in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League group stage.

The Italian giants came into the match in dominant form, having scored nine goals and conceded none in their first three Champions League fixtures. Their early control suggested another comfortable win was on the cards, with Lautaro Martinez missing several clear-cut chances and even seeing a shot cleared off the line.

Martinez Breaks the Deadlock

Inter’s persistence paid off just before half-time when captain Lautaro Martinez finally broke Kairat’s resistance, scrambling the ball home at close range after his initial effort was blocked.

Kairat’s Shock Equaliser

The second half began with a shock as Ofri Arad headed in an impressive equaliser for Kairat, catching Inter off guard and silencing the San Siro crowd.

Augusto Secures the Win

However, Inter responded calmly. Brazilian wing-back Carlos Augusto restored the lead with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, ensuring Inter took all three points.

With this win, Inter Milan remain level with Bayern Munich and Arsenal at the top of the group, all sitting on 12 points from four games. Kairat, meanwhile, are still without a victory in their debut Champions League campaign.
