The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has described the emergence of a parallel Board of Trustees (BoT) within the party as illegal, calling it an attempt by the minority to have their say.
Ogidi made the remarks on Friday during an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST. He said the move has no constitutional backing and would not be recognized within the party.
“It is easy for democracy — the minority will have their say. By our constitution, the BoT is clearly defined. What some people have done is not recognised by the party; they are not the BoT. They can say what they like, but they remain the minority,” Ogidi said.
He further explained that the individuals behind the purported BoT meeting were seeking attention and that their actions do not affect the legitimacy or operations of the party.
DAILY POST reports that Mao Ohuabunwa was appointed Chairman of the BoT for the PDP faction loyal to Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, earlier on Friday.
