Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has made history once again, becoming the first Nigerian artist to earn five Grammy nominations in album categories, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most globally celebrated musicians.
His 2025 project, No Sign of Weakness, received a nomination for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards, placing him alongside some of the world’s most acclaimed artists, including Siddhant Bhatia (Sounds of Kumbha), Youssou N’Dour (Éclairer le monde: Light the World), Shakti (Mind Explosion – 50th Anniversary Tour Live), Anoushka Shankar (Chapter III: We Return to Light, featuring Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar), and Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia (Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo).
With this recognition, Burna Boy extends an extraordinary Grammy record built over five previous nominations for African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023).
The singer also scored a second nomination this year in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit track Love, further highlighting his dominance in the international music scene.
The category features a strong Nigerian presence, with Davido and Omah Lay nominated for With You, Ayra Starr and Wizkid for Gimme Dat, alongside Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin (Hope & Love), and Tyla (Push 2 Start).
The winners of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be announced on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
With five album nominations across seven years, Burna Boy continues to redefine Afrobeats on the world stage — not just as a performer, but as a consistent standard-bearer for African excellence in global music.
