I Don’t Care About Grammys, But I Want It for Davido – Omah Lay

Afrobeats sensation Omah Lay has shared heartfelt sentiments about his first-ever Grammy nomination, saying that while he is grateful for the recognition, he personally doesn’t place much value on awards — but hopes Davido wins it.

The singer earned a nomination for his collaboration with Davido on “With You”, which is up for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

In a post shared on his fan platform, Omah Lay expressed excitement over the nomination but admitted that accolades are not his primary motivation.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards,” he wrote. “Yeah, but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while — he stood by me during my hardest times.”

The comment sparked widespread admiration online, with many fans praising his humility and loyalty to Davido.

Davido, who has yet to clinch a Grammy despite multiple nominations — including in the same category since its debut in 2023 — remains one of Afrobeats’ most influential figures globally.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
