Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Condemns Red Fort Blast, Calls Terrorism “Unacceptable in Civil Society”

New Delhi | November 13, 2025 – The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, on Thursday strongly condemned the recent high-intensity blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, calling it an “abominable terror attack” and reaffirming that terrorism has no place in civil society.

In a statement issued from the iconic mosque, Bukhari expressed deep solidarity with the victims and their families, emphasizing the unity of all communities in the face of such acts of violence. He said the government must ensure that justice is served and that the perpetrators are brought to account without delay.

“With a firm national resolve, we shall be able to unitedly fight the menace of terrorism and succeed in defeating it,” the Shahi Imam stated, underscoring the collective responsibility of all citizens to oppose violence and uphold peace.

The blast, which occurred on Monday evening, tragically claimed at least 10 lives and caused widespread fear in the heart of India’s national capital. The incident has been widely condemned across the country, with political leaders, civil society groups, and religious figures emphasizing the need for unity and vigilance.

A Strong Stand Against Terrorism

Bukhari highlighted that terrorism has no legitimate place in any civil society. “The Muslim community, filled with the spirit of patriotism, stands on this critical moment with their compatriot Indians like a wall reinforced with lead,” he said. His remarks underline the rejection of extremist ideologies and reaffirm the commitment of India’s communities to national unity and social harmony.

The Shahi Imam also called for justice-based action against those responsible for the attack. “The government should leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators and their patrons to justice,” Bukhari said, stressing that all measures should align with the principles of fairness and the rule of law.

Condolences and Solidarity

Expressing his personal grief, Bukhari said, “Their sorrow is collectively our sorrow. We stand with them on an unshakable foundation of compassion.” His statement reflected not only empathy for the families affected but also a broader message of social cohesion and mutual support in the face of adversity.

National Unity Against Violence

The Imam’s condemnation comes amid growing national efforts to bolster security and prevent further terror incidents. Authorities have stepped up surveillance and investigations, and law enforcement agencies are working to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.

Bukhari’s remarks serve as a moral and social reinforcement against terrorism, emphasizing that communities must remain united and resilient in the face of threats to peace. His call for a strong, justice-driven response echoes the sentiment of many across the country who have condemned the attack and reaffirmed their commitment to India’s democratic values.

By speaking out, the Shahi Imam also sent a clear message that extremism and violence have no legitimacy in any community or faith, and that collective vigilance and solidarity are essential to protecting civil society.
