‘Loaded with EVMs’ or Empty Trunks? Rohtas District Election Officer Refutes RJD’s Allegations Ahead of Bihar Vote Count

Sasaram, Bihar | November 13, 2025 – On the eve of Bihar’s much-anticipated election results, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) sparked a flurry of social media activity by sharing a video alleging irregularities at the Sasaram counting centre. The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), purportedly showed a truck entering the counting venue “loaded with EVMs,” raising questions about the integrity of the vote counting process.

However, the district administration of Rohtas promptly dismissed the claims, clarifying that the truck in question carried empty steel boxes and that the counting process remained secure and transparent. District Magistrate Udita Singh, who also serves as the District Election Officer, addressed the allegations, emphasizing that the vehicle had been thoroughly inspected and found empty.

“After receiving information about this incident, the trucks were inspected at the entrance of the counting centre located at Takiya Bazar Samiti, Sasaram. This inspection was conducted in the presence of the candidates and their supporters who were present at the site,” the DM’s official X page stated. The entire process was video recorded to maintain transparency. “All the steel trucks were found to be completely empty, and no EVMs were found in them. Therefore, the claim of ‘trucks loaded with EVMs’ is untrue,” the statement added.

Inspection Process and Security Measures

Speaking to reporters, DM Singh detailed the meticulous inspection carried out before the truck entered the counting centre. “The truck entered the Bazar Samiti counting centre at 7:59 pm on Wednesday, after proper police checking and logbook entry,” she said. Following the RJD’s social media claim, a district administration team immediately conducted a thorough inspection.

“Every single box was opened and checked in the presence of officials deployed by political parties and their supporters, who were present in large numbers,” Singh noted. She further clarified that the truck had been parked approximately 500 metres away from the strong room, underscoring the physical separation between vehicles and the secure storage of EVMs.

The DM urged the public and political entities not to spread misleading information, highlighting that “the situation ahead of counting day is sensitive” and requires restraint to maintain order and trust in the electoral process.

CCTV and Surveillance Measures

Addressing concerns about surveillance, Singh dismissed claims of dysfunctional CCTVs at the counting centre. She affirmed that all cameras were functioning correctly, including those installed at entry and exit points of strong rooms as well as across the campus. A viewing system is in place, allowing candidate representatives to observe live footage from the cameras, ensuring transparency and accountability.

The district administration’s response was further amplified when it was reposted by the Bihar Chief Electoral Officer, reinforcing the official position that the vote counting process was secure, well-monitored, and free from tampering.

Political Context

The RJD’s allegation comes amid heightened tension ahead of the announcement of Bihar’s assembly election results on Friday. With stakes high, political parties are actively monitoring the counting process, often mobilizing their supporters to witness proceedings firsthand. Misinterpretations or unverified claims, particularly on social media, have the potential to incite confusion and suspicion among voters and party members.

The DM’s detailed clarification and proactive measures demonstrate the administration’s focus on ensuring integrity, transparency, and public confidence in the electoral process. By allowing party representatives to witness inspections and providing live CCTV monitoring, officials aim to prevent misinformation and maintain a smooth counting operation.

Conclusion

As Bihar prepares for the declaration of its election results, authorities in Rohtas have emphasized that all protocols regarding EVM security, counting transparency, and surveillance are being strictly followed. The district administration’s prompt response and public communication aim to dispel rumors, reinforcing faith in the state’s electoral machinery.

With the counting set to begin shortly, officials continue to urge citizens and political entities to rely on verified information from official channels and refrain from circulating unverified videos or claims that could undermine the electoral process.
