A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has warned that the party is currently working in ways that could render it unelectable in the 2027 general elections.
Sowunmi made the remarks on Friday during an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily’, a programme on Channels Television, monitored by DAILY POST.
The PDP has recently been plagued by internal political wranglings, resulting in two factions. One faction, loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed, while the other faction is led by Umar Damagum.
Speaking on the programme, Sowunmi said:
“It’s still a very big task to be able to get us ready for a significant chance for success in the next election. We are mostly being underdone by the African Democratic Congress, ADC. When they started, we said, ‘Who are they?’ But I warned. I said the second heart attack of PDP is what Atiku Abubakar is capable of doing. No matter how angry you get, if you underrate him, you will pay for it.
“If you look at the ADC and the PDP, you will see that PDP is really working to make itself unelectable.”
