NNPP Lawmakers Deny Plans to Leave Party, Reaffirm Loyalty to Kwankwasiya Movement

Lawmakers of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the House of Representatives have denied rumours suggesting they intend to abandon the party for other political platforms.

The 13 lawmakers, all members of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Kano State, reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP and its leadership during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, led by Hon. Garba Diso.

Their clarification follows the recent defection of two NNPP lawmakers from Kano, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin and Hon. Sagir Koki, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during House plenary.

Diso stated that reports of a mass defection by the Kwankwasiya lawmakers were false and malicious.

“We wish to categorically debunk these unfounded rumours and urge the general public, our supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to disregard such misleading claims,” he said.

He added that those spreading the rumours were political detractors threatened by the growing influence, unity, and resilience of the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya family, particularly in Kano State and nationwide.

Diso emphasized that interactions with members of other parties should not be misconstrued as disloyalty.

“Our engagements with members of other political parties reflect our commitment to bipartisan cooperation aimed at advancing good governance, national unity, and progress for all Nigerians,” he said.

He reaffirmed their allegiance to the party’s ideals:

“We remain steadfast in our allegiance to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya ideology, which stands for justice, equity, inclusiveness, and people-centered governance. No amount of misinformation or propaganda will shake our faith in the movement or its leadership.”

Diso concluded by pledging continued dedication to the party and the people of Kano State:

“We stand firm, united, and loyal to the NNPP, the Kwankwasiya Movement, and the people we serve.”
