Makinde Launches Modern Bus Terminal, 30 CNG-Powered Buses in Oyo State

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has unveiled a modern bus terminal and introduced 30 new intercity buses under the state-owned Pacesetter Transport Services, in a partnership with Leyland Nigeria. The launch coincided with the inauguration of the state’s first CNG fuelling station, developed in collaboration with Atlas Core Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde commended Pacesetter management, led by Dr. Dikko Salami, for transforming public transport in the state. He emphasized that the new buses, powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), reflect the administration’s commitment to sustainable energy, economic efficiency, and modern transport infrastructure.

“The buses and CNG station are not just vehicles or facilities; they represent a cleaner, smarter, and more reliable future for Oyo State,” Makinde said. “We are setting the pace in public transport and demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can drive our economy forward.”

The newly inaugurated terminal, named after the governor, is strategically located at Pacesetter’s headquarters. It features VVIP and VIP lounges, ticketing booths, waiting areas, and other modern amenities, designed to enhance commuter comfort and convenience.

The CNG station is expected to provide an affordable and eco-friendly fuelling alternative, lowering operational costs for buses and promoting the adoption of cleaner energy. These initiatives are part of the state government’s strategy to improve service delivery, efficiency, and passenger experience.

Dr. Dikko Salami praised Governor Makinde’s leadership, acknowledging that the administration’s support created the enabling environment for these innovations. “We are grateful to the governor for believing in the potential of Pacesetter and for providing the resources and political will to make these projects a reality,” he said.

Governor Makinde affirmed that the developments mark a significant milestone in Oyo State’s public transport modernization, creating a legacy that will benefit generations of commuters.
