Annu Kapoor Recalls Awkward Interview With Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Calls Him ‘Frivolous’

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor recently opened up about a past uncomfortable encounter with acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, describing the experience as disappointing and awkward. Sharing his story on a podcast with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Annu reflected on an interview that did not go as expected, leaving him unimpressed by Nawazuddin’s behavior.

The Goa Interview

Annu revealed that years ago he was invited to Goa for a club event where he was asked to interview Nawazuddin Siddiqui on stage. Initially, he was impressed by the actor’s educational background, noting that Nawazuddin holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry. However, the admiration quickly waned during the conversation.

The turning point came when Annu tried to lighten the atmosphere by asking Nawazuddin about his love life. According to Annu, Nawazuddin’s response—“Many came and went”—gave him the impression that the actor was frivolous and not taking the conversation seriously. Annu said, “The way he said it gave me the impression that he is a frivolous type of man. ‘Many came and went’ is a very cheap type of comment.”

A One-Sided Conversation

The interaction, Annu explained, was largely one-sided. Nawazuddin did not respond adequately to his questions, leaving Annu to carry the conversation on stage. The event organizers later complained that Annu was “the only one talking.” Reflecting on the situation, Annu said, “I told them, ‘What kind of person have you brought for an interview if he has nothing to say? How would he disrespect me? I would have thrown him out if he did. He disrespected himself.’”

Professional Updates

Annu Kapoor recently appeared in Jolly LLB3, which starred Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, released on September 19. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to play the antagonist in the upcoming film Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, scheduled to release on October 21, 2025.

The incident highlights the occasional challenges actors and interviewers face in public interactions, even with accomplished artists. Annu’s candid recollection sheds light on the nuances of celebrity interviews and the importance of engagement and professionalism.
