Will Ferrell, the comedic legend known for roles in Elf and Anchorman, made a hilarious and heartwarming cameo in the Jonas Brothers’ latest holiday movie, A Very Jonas Christmas, alongside his real-life family. The cameo features Ferrell, his wife Viveca Paulin, and their three sons — Magnus, Mattias, and Axel — adding a genuine family charm to the holiday special.
Ferrell Family’s Role in the Film
The scene opens with Ferrell frantically struggling to put on a blue t-shirt emblazoned with “Nick & Joe & Kevin”, clearly excited to attend the Jonas Brothers’ London concert. He calls on his family to hurry, exclaiming:
“Okay! Let’s go, people! We flew all the way to London for this concert. I want to make sure we get there in time to hit the merch stand.”
Ferrell’s onscreen wife, Viveca Paulin, whom he met at an acting class in 1995 and married in 2000, joins him alongside their sons: Magnus (21), Mattias (18), and Axel (15). As Ferrell obsessively prepares for the concert, the family’s chemistry and comedic timing shine through.
Comedy and Family Moments
In one humorous moment, Ferrell shares his thoughts on enduring Hollywood pressures, joking to his wife:
“Important? Tonight isn’t just important, Viveca. Tonight is my Super Bowl…You know what I think about to get through that?”
Viveca sweetly responds, “Me and the kids,” to which Ferrell replies, “What? No, I think about tonight and watching my three kings as they share their gift with the world.” The blend of comedy, affection, and family love makes the cameo especially memorable.
Later, Ferrell and his family are shown arriving at the concert early, with Ferrell exclaiming:
“I’m so happy we got here four hours early.”
Behind the Scenes: How the Cameo Came Together
Ahead of the movie’s premiere on Hulu and Disney+, the Jonas Brothers revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Ferrell’s cameo was initially thought impossible. Nick Jonas explained that when brainstorming who could “set the tone” for the holiday film, Will Ferrell immediately came to mind. Surprisingly, Ferrell agreed to appear and even brought his entire family along.
“We all thought there’s no chance he’ll actually do it. So we reached out, and he said, ‘Yeah, I’ll be there and I’ll bring my family. They’ll be in it, too,’” Nick said.
Family-Centric Holiday Movie
A Very Jonas Christmas follows the Jonas Brothers racing from London to New York to spend Christmas with their families. The film features cameos from each brother’s real-life family. Notably, Nick Jonas’ 3½-year-old daughter Malti joins him and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in her movie debut, hugging her parents in a touching final scene.
The holiday film officially premiered on Friday, November 14, 2025, streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, and has already charmed audiences with its blend of humor, heart, and family-centric storytelling.
