President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, nephew of former President Shehu Shagari, as the new Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

The former NIWA boss, Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar, has been reassigned to serve as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

The Presidency described the appointments as part of a strategic effort to strengthen public institutions by injecting fresh leadership and placing experienced hands in agencies critical to infrastructure development and transparency in the extractive sector.
