Nigerian singer Yemi Alade opened up about facing sexual harassment during her early career as a young, struggling artiste.
Speaking on the Swift Conversations podcast, the “Johnny” crooner recalled how music executives would inappropriately touch her during business meetings and studio sessions while she was still a teenager. She said these experiences often left her in shock but strengthened her resolve to succeed in the music industry.
Alade reflected, “If the door was left open for me, I would walk in. If it was shut in my face, I would walk away… but I realized I needed to stop walking through doors and start breaking down walls.”
The singer credited her persistence and talent for helping her overcome the harassment and achieve success.
