Nahous Gallery Launches “Textures of Humanity” Photo Book Exhibition

Nahous Gallery, in partnership with renowned American photographer Reed Davis, has opened a new exhibition titled “Textures of Humanity”, a photo book exhibition celebrating African culture, cuisine, and arts. The showcase runs from November 15 to December 15, 2025, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The exhibition features a book presentation highlighting 200 images captured by Davis during his travels across Kenya, Tunisia, Egypt, Tanzania, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal, Gabon, and other African countries over the past decade. The images depict daily life, culinary traditions, and cultural practices, offering an authentic narrative beyond surface-level impressions.

Davis described the exhibition as a conversation about honoring the people and places that allowed him to experience Africa in new ways. “With my camera, I capture people and places as they truly are. The images are not my creations, but a shared story, a reminder that beauty exists not in perfection, but in presence,” he explained.

The event includes a private dinner and a collaboration with Chef Tolu Eros, an internationally acclaimed chef, who will use his culinary expertise to complement the exhibition and highlight Nigerian cuisine. Davis expressed his affinity for Lagos, noting that the city’s energy and vibrancy made it the ideal location for the exhibition and book launch.

Tiana Kumo, events manager at Nahous Gallery, emphasized the gallery’s African focus as a perfect match for Davis’s vision, saying, “It is all about Africa, showcasing our heritage in pictures and promoting African culture internationally.”

The exhibition is accompanied by Davis’s 156-page book, Textures of Humanity: Beauty and Richness of Africa, published by Snap Collective. Art lovers, collectors, and the public are encouraged to visit Nahous Gallery to experience the captivating images and stories captured across the continent.
