Katy Perry Fires Back at ‘Unhinged’ Critics Amid Lifetimes Tour and Blue Origin Backlash: “Please Know I Am OK”

Katy Perry is taking a stand against the rising wave of online hate surrounding her Lifetimes Tour and recent Blue Origin space flight, delivering a powerful, self-affirming message to fans and critics alike.

On Tuesday, the pop star, 40, addressed the criticism in a heartfelt Instagram comment, writing:

“Please know I am OK. I’ve done a lot of work around knowing who I am, what is real, and what is important to me.”

Perry has recently come under fire for her role in the all-female Blue Origin flight, with celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Munn, and Jessica Chastain slamming the trip as wasteful and environmentally harmful. Critics also targeted her “sci-fi-inspired” concert costumes and performances on her ongoing Lifetimes Tour, branding them “cringe.”

But Perry remains unfazed.

“When the online world tries to make me a human piñata, I take it with grace and send them love,” she wrote. “I know so many people are hurting… the internet is very much so a dumping ground for the unhinged and unhealed.”

She credited her KatyCats with helping her stay grounded.

“I see your faces every night, singing in unison. We’re healing each other in a small way.”

Perry also shared a lesson from therapy that’s helped her rise above the noise:

“No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe. If I do have a reaction, it’s a chance to explore what’s beneath it.”

The backlash hasn’t stopped her momentum. Perry recently wrapped her Mexico City shows and is set to kick off the U.S. leg of the Lifetimes Tour in Houston on May 7. Despite speculation that her tour’s styling was tied to her space journey, Perry has clarified it’s actually inspired by video game culture, referencing films like The Fifth Element and Blade Runner.

As she summed it up:

“I’m on a human journey playing the game of life… Sometimes I fall, but I get back up and continue to play — and in that light, a new level unlocks.”
