Kogi Senator Highlights Motive Behind Cherubim & Seraphim Church Kidnapping

Senator Sunday Karimi has called for urgent action to secure the release of worshippers abducted during an attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West, Kogi State.

The attack occurred during Sunday service, when gunmen reportedly stormed the church, kidnapping the pastor, his wife, and several members of the congregation.

Senator Condemns Attack
In a statement on Monday, Karimi condemned the incident, urging Nigerians to pray for the victims’ safe return. He described the assault as the work of criminals “masquerading as bandits” aiming to instill fear and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s security agenda.

He noted that the President has already directed security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the abducted worshippers are freed.

Karimi stressed that rising attacks in Kogi West would not deter his commitment to good governance and effective representation.

Call for Calm and Vigilance
The senator appealed to the families of the abducted individuals to remain calm while authorities continue rescue efforts. He also urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to support ongoing security operations.

“Kogi West has always been a peaceful constituency where people go about their businesses without fear, and that peace will be restored,” Karimi affirmed.

State Government Issues Advisory
In response to the incident, the Kogi State government advised worship centres in crime-prone areas to reconsider holding services until security conditions improve.

“Worship centres in the outskirts should also reconsider gathering in vulnerable areas for now until the situation stabilizes,” said Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information.
