Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has reiterated that his son will only be buried after the ongoing DNA test on Mohbad’s son is concluded.
Aloba made the statement on Monday, December 2, while speaking to reporters in court ahead of the scheduled hearing on the DNA matter.
“The DNA Is What’s Delaying Mohbad’s Burial” — Aloba
Emphasizing the importance of the test, he said:
“Today is the DNA court case. We are here now. My lawyer is here. I am telling the whole world that this is the most important thing and exactly what is delaying the burial of Mohbad.
After the DNA is done, we can now move on to the burial aspect.”
Background
Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, triggering nationwide reactions, protests, and calls for investigation. One major point of contention since his death has been the paternity of the child he left behind.
Joseph Aloba has repeatedly questioned whether the boy is biologically Mohbad’s, alleging that his doubts stem from past conversations in which Mohbad reportedly claimed his wife, Wunmi, had been unfaithful while they were dating.
These claims remain unproven and are a central issue in the ongoing legal proceedings.
Awaiting Closure
The court is expected to address the DNA matter as the family continues to seek closure and prepare for the singer’s long-delayed burial.
