“I Stayed 18 Months in Her Womb”

Laniyan explained that, according to his mother, he remained in her womb for 18 months—far longer than the typical pregnancy period. The prolonged gestation left those around his mother worried, with many suspecting spiritual rather than medical reasons.

The Lizard Called “Anta”

His mother was advised to eat a creature known in Yoruba as “Anta,” a lizard-like animal believed to induce labor. Laniyan said the dish was prepared for her, and just an hour after she ate it, he was born.

Why He Was Named After the Creature

Because of this rare experience, his mother decided to name him after the creature. Laniyan explained that the name carries a deep story, one he proudly shares to honor the sacrifices mothers make.

How “Anta” Became “Antar”

The actor also revealed that his original name was altered during his school years. Teased by classmates, he added the letter “R” to become “Antar,” the name by which he is now known.

“There’s a story behind it, and I like telling it because I want every individual to understand the importance of having a mother. The kind of things our mothers go through before giving birth is unimaginable,” Laniyan said.
