Lagos Monarch Marks 25th Coronation Anniversary and 90th Birthday

The Onise of Iseland in Lagos State, Oba Ganiyu Adebowale Adegbesan (Omuni Ogbongbologun, Shebitan III), celebrated his 25th coronation anniversary alongside his 90th birthday in a grand three-day event from November 27, 2025.

The celebrations commenced with the installation of prominent indigenes of Iseland as chiefs at the palace. Among the honorees were:

  • Chief Henry Ajomale, former chairman of the Lagos State APC, installed as Baba Oba of Iseland.
  • Wanle Akinboboye, founder of La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, installed as Bobagunwa of Iseland.
  • Major General Suleiman Aliyu (Retired), installed as Akogun of Iseland.

The event drew notable dignitaries, including Mr. Adekunle Olayinka, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Works, Bayo Olasoju, Chairman of Isolo LCDA, and Taoheed Taiwo, Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, who praised Oba Adegbesan for honoring individuals who have contributed to community development.

Oba Adegbesan expressed appreciation for the newly installed chiefs and encouraged them to continue advancing the progress of Iseland. His son, Aremo Onise, Prince Akeem Adekunle, thanked attendees for their support and prayed for their continued blessings.

Adding to the festivities, the monarch also marked his 61st wedding anniversary with his wife, Olori Tasiliat Abiodun Adegbesan, on November 28. The ceremony was attended by other royal dignitaries, including Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Rasaq, the Onibeju of Ibejuland, and Prince Salisu Ibrahim, the monarch-elect of Imedu.

The dual celebrations highlighted Oba Adegbesan’s enduring legacy and his commitment to fostering leadership, community development, and family values in Iseland.
