The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two suspected traffic robbers accused of terrorizing motorists along the Ojota–Ketu corridor.
Spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrests in a post on her X handle, responding to a motorist who reported a recent attack. The incident occurred Thursday between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., when four men allegedly attempted to break into the motorist’s vehicle as traffic stalled near Ojota Bridge.
According to the motorist, one of the suspects brandished a weapon while another hurled stones at his vehicle, putting him and his daughter in danger. He narrowly escaped as traffic inched forward, describing the ordeal as traumatic.
A similar, though less severe, attack reportedly occurred on Sunday at the same location. The motorist also noted the absence of police officers, who are usually stationed on the bridge to ensure security.
In response, Adebisi said the Command’s Intelligence and Tactical Operatives acted swiftly, apprehending the suspects on December 8, within 24 hours of the complaint. The suspects allegedly confessed to harassing motorists and are now in police custody as investigations continue.
The Lagos Police reiterated the importance of public cooperation in combating crime, urging residents to report suspicious activities promptly, and thanked the public for their vigilance.
