Afolabi Ebenezer Ayomide, the talented Afrobeats producer and songwriter formerly known as SpecBeatz, has unveiled a major rebrand, adopting the new professional identity of BeatzbySpec. This transformation is not just a name change but a strategic shift that reflects his evolving role in Nigeria’s dynamic Afrobeats scene and a clearer structure for his growing creative ecosystem.

Ebenezer explained that the rebrand goes beyond aesthetics—it represents his ambition to evolve from a passion-driven endeavor into a fully structured, registered creative enterprise. The new identity is designed to better align with his long-term artistic goals and the expansion of his creative vision.

Under this reorganization, BeatzbySpec will serve as his dedicated producer identity, while he will also operate under two other creative roles:

• Boyspec – his stage persona and performance identity.
• Spec’s Lab – the recording and production hub that houses his sound and collaborative efforts.

The Journey to BeatzbySpec

Ebenezer’s journey into the world of music began at a young age. Raised in the church, where he learned to play the guitar and keyboard with the support of his mother, his musical roots were deeply spiritual. However, much of his production skills were self-taught through YouTube tutorials and countless hours of experimentation.

His path into professional production was shaped by key mentors and connections. Timmy Gee, a fellow industry player, introduced him to opportunities in Lagos, which expanded his network. Another pivotal moment came when WiseBee—mentored by Director TZ—helped him refine his skills and exposed him to advanced production tools.

Additionally, Zhestabad and the legendary 2TBoyz from Agege helped him perfect his sound, firmly establishing him as an up-and-coming force in Afrobeats production.
