The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has explained that the recent reduction in power supply across the South-East is due to low system frequency caused by gas constraints affecting power generation companies.
In a statement on Tuesday, Emeka Ezeh, EEDC’s Group Head of Corporate Communications, said the situation forced the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to implement load shedding of the available electricity.
The development has reduced energy allocation to EEDC, impacting daily electricity supply for customers served by its subsidiaries, including MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra, and EastLand.
EEDC assured that industry stakeholders are actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal power distribution. The company apologized for the inconvenience and appealed to customers for patience and understanding.
