Fuji Musician Wasiu Ayinde ‘KWAM 1’ Files Suit Over Awujale Throne in Ogun

Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has filed a lawsuit at the Ogun State High Court, Ijebu-Ode, challenging the ongoing succession process for the Awujale of Ijebuland throne.

The case, filed as an interlocutory application seeking an interim injunction on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, names Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and several other officials as respondents. The suit is listed as Suit No: C3/238/2025.

In his application, KWAM 1, who formally identifies himself as Otunba Wasiu Olasunkanmi Ayinde Adesanya Marshal, is asking the court to halt the installation process of the next Awujale until the substantive case is heard and determined. The motion relies on provisions from the High Court of Ogun State Civil Procedure Rules 2024, as well as Sections 36 and 6(6)(c) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.

The suit asserts that KWAM 1 is an aspirant to the Awujale throne, claiming lineage from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. It argues that an interim injunction is necessary to protect his interest and prevent interference with the succession process.

The legal action comes after the Fusengbuwa Ruling House formally rejected KWAM 1’s lineage claim, declaring his submitted linkage form invalid in a letter dated December 11, 2025. Despite this, KWAM 1 maintains his claim and seeks judicial intervention to halt the throne’s installation pending court determination.

The court’s decision on the injunction will add a new legal dimension to the Awujale succession dispute, potentially pausing the enthronement process until the case is resolved.
