Dele Momodu: Past Presidents Would’ve Prosecuted Atiku if He Was Corrupt

Dele Momodu, chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has asserted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would have faced prosecution by ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, or President Bola Tinubu if he had engaged in corruption.

Momodu made the statement during an X Space session titled “Avrilsspace: The Electoral Mathematics for 2027” on Monday night, urging anyone with evidence of Atiku’s corrupt practices to present it to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), or the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

“There is nothing under the sun that has not been written about Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, but I can tell you that none of it has been substantiated,” Momodu said.

He further pointed out that Atiku’s disputes with former President Obasanjo did not result in prosecution because there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

Momodu described Atiku as a consummate democrat who avoids thuggery or militancy:

“My fascination for him increased after he became the Director of Strategic Communications from 2022 to 2023. He’s a seasoned administrator, allows everyone the same respect, and you’ll never see people wailing around his house—whether thugs or militants. He’s a cosmopolitan gentleman.”

He concluded by reiterating that anyone with proof of Atiku’s alleged corruption should report it to the appropriate authorities.
